The Drew University women’s lacrosse team displayed a dominant victory against Juniata College on Saturday, March 31. Allowing only two goals into the net, the Rangers earned their first Landmark Conference victory, with a score of 18-2.
Drew won the opening draw, soon after which Lauren Cassella (’21) scored the first goal of the game. Barely a minute into the game, the Rangers already held a solid 3-0 lead, which steadily increased to 13-1 by halftime. Eighteen has proven to be a lucky number for the Rangers, as this match marked the second straight game, and fourth time this season, that they scored 18 goals.
Mia Campanale (’19) scored a whopping six goals. She was followed by Allie DiDario (’20), who accounted for three goals, an assist, seven draw controls, three ground balls and four caused turnovers. Jenna Morelli (’20) also scored three goals, adding an assist, six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Cassella and Charly Nolting (’21) scored three goals each, as well, while Sage Johnson (’18) registered 10 draw controls, four ground balls and three assists. Goalkeeper Kat Michalski (’20), picked up two ground balls and made one save.
The Rangers will have a week off before they return to the field to continue Landmark Conference play against Elizabethtown College on Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m. in Elizabethtown, PA.
