On March 29, the Drew University men’s baseball team lost by a 9-1 margin in a non-conference matchup against Keystone. The Rangers’ record now stands at 11-5.
Keystone took the early lead in the first, grabbing two runs and then added five more by the end of the second inning. The Keystone Giants had opened up a 9-0 lead before Drew got on the board in the top of the ninth after singles by Ryan Sabbag (‘18), Brian Dagostino (‘20) and Jayson Mitch (‘19). Zach Lipshitz (‘19) drew a base loaded walk to earn the Rangers run. Lipshitz and Max Felsenstein (‘20) each had a pair of hits to get Drew’s total hits up to eight. Paul Roth (‘18) surrendered six runs on the mound. Pete Violante (‘20) pitched 3.2 innings, yielding two runs on three hits and two strikeouts. Davis Fouts (‘19), Joe Dahut (‘18) and Tim Jinks (‘21) followed with an inning each.
Later in the week, the Rangers had two weather related cancellations, one against Kean on April 2 and one against St. Joseph’s on April 4. Drew’s next matchup is on April 7 against Juniata at home.
