The women’s lacrosse team beat one of their last Landmark Conference opponents, Goucher College, on April 21, leaving them with one game left to determine their playoff fate.

The Rangers posted a dominant victory over the Gophers on Saturday, beating them 21-10, ending a two game losing streak. Right now, they are in a tie for fourth place in Landmark standings, which makes their final Conference game this coming Saturday a must win to enter the Conference tournament.

Sage Johnson (‘18) and Lauren Cassella (‘21) opened the scoring early, scoring only 30 seconds apart to give the Rangers the early lead. Goucher soon answered back with five goals, getting ahead 2-5, but Mia Campanale (‘19) brought the Rangers into play once again. Going into the half, Drew led 10-7. The momentum continued from there, with the Rangers opening their lead up to 12-7 early on. Despite a brief rally from Goucher, the Rangers went on a six-goal scoring run to earn an 18-9 advantage with 12:22 left in the game. Drew wasn’t done, piling more goals on to finish the game 21-10. This is the second time this season that the Rangers have scored 20 goals in a single game, the first time was against Manhattanville College on March 14.

Campanale hit a career-high eight goals, leaving her one short of the single-game record for the Rangers. Cassella was not far behind, adding six goals and three assists to the tally. Charly Nolting (‘21) added two goals and four assists to the campaign as well.

Allie DiDario (‘20) earned 12 draw controls, establishing a new Drew single-season record of 99 draw controls this season. The previous record was set by Katie Woods in 2000 with 98. With at least one more game left in the season, Didario has the potential to add to that total, upping the record further. In addition her 12 draw controls were good for the second-most in a game in program history as well.

Johnson was not far behind, controlling seven draws, giving her 90 this season. She also rounded out the scoring with two goals and two assists. Kat Michalski (‘21) picked up a team-high four ground balls, she also added seven saves.

The Rangers finish their regular season celebrating their two graduating seniors at home on Saturday, April 28, at 1:30 p.m. when they host Susquehanna. If they win, they will qualify for their third consecutive Landmark Conference Tournament appearance.
