Club sports at Drew are in full swing, with every sport holding weekly practices and some already beginning their games and tournaments. The step team held their first practice this week, and the team is doing well after being discontinued for several years due to lack of interest. The Rangerettes are also rehearsing, and they will soon premiere their new dances at the Rose City Classic, coming up in November.
The men’s rugby team dropped their first home game of the season against Monroe Rugby Club on Wednesday, September 13. They are looking to even out their record as they travel to Annandale-on-Hudson, NY to take on Bard College this Sunday at 1pm.
The women’s rugby team is gearing up for their 25th anniversary celebration with their annual alumni rugby game on Sunday, October 14. They will be hosting a home game the day before before taking on their alumni the following day.
Club soccer played their season opening games on Sunday, September 10. They dropped the match against Lehigh University. Team captain Shah Khan (‘19) was proud of his team, saying that “We played hard for a team that’s in its third semester of existence against an experienced team!” He was also able to point out his team’s pitfalls, saying “We learned very quickly that fitness is key.” The team will look to improve their performance as well as their record as they continue practice this week.
Club volleyball continues to hold practices, as they are preparing to participate in their first tournament on Saturday, September 30. Their practices are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8-9:30pm in the Simon Forum.
All club sports are open to all Drew students, so if you are interested in joining email the team captain or Campus Rec at recreation@drew.edu to find out more!
