Last Saturday, the Rangers men’s and women’s cross country teams squared off against several Landmark Conference opponents at the Juniata XC Invitational. Among the teams from the Landmark Conference were the hosts Juniata along with Drew, Catholic, Goucher, Moravian and Susquehanna. Both Rangers men’s and women’s squads ran full distance races for the first time this season. The men completed a full 8,000 meter race and the women ran 6,000 meters, both at the Standing Stone Golf Club in Huntingdon, PA.
Drew did not receive a team score in the men’s race, as the Rangers only entered three men into the competition, and five runners are required for the team to receive a score. Christian Parenti (‘19) secured 45th in the overall race place with a time of 32:46.90. His time set the pace for the rest of the Rangers, as they were not far behind. Nick Smale (‘21) and Tiago Dos Santos (‘18) rounded out the group, finishing 56th and 57th respectively with times of 38:12.80 and 39:49.10.
Lisa Rojas (‘18) was the Rangers top finisher placing 39th overall in 30:16.90. Violet Kimble (‘21) and Mollie Ankrom (‘21) closely followed crossing the line together in 50th and 51st positions with times of 32:23.30 and 32:32.50. Rounding out the group were teammates Emily Rosales (‘19), who captured 55th place in 41:19.90 and Paula Lopez (‘20) took 56th overall in 43:48.70. Drew finished in sixth place overall in the women’s standings.
Following a week off, the Rangers XC teams will be back in action Saturday, September 23 at the Bard Raptors Invitational hosted by Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.
