The Drew University field hockey team lost a hard fought battle, dropping their match 1-2 against Keuka College on Saturday, September 9. The Rangers trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Madyson Griswold (’20) scored her first goal of her collegiate career after receiving an assist from Madi Sheetz (’18). Her goal tied the score at the 56th minute, making the game 1-1. Goalkeeper Ryann Callaghan (’19), saved three successive shots made by the Wolves soon after Griswold tied the score. Kate Todero (’19) and Sheetz both attempted shots on the Wolves before the match was sent into overtime.
During the overtime period, the Wolves fired four shots which were expertly saved by Callaghan, before one managed to sneak into the goal after a nail-biting 7 minutes, securing the victory for Keuka. Callaghan finished the game with 12 saves to her name, while Todero made a defensive stop.
The Rangers have a week off before they return to home ground, as they prepare to host Delaware Valley College next Saturday, September 16 at 12pm.
