The Rangers began their game on Saturday, April 21, with a pregame ceremony, honoring seniors Jack Crowley (‘18), Devin Lyons (‘18), Charles Maynard (‘18), Joe Palmieri (‘18) and Greg Swenson (‘18) for their contributions to the men’s lacrosse program during their time here at Drew.

Drew began their final home contest of the season against Landmark Conference opponent Goucher, whom they would eventually fall to 9-5. However, the game showed promise in the opening minutes as Seamus O’Connor (‘20) got Drew on the board at the 1:37 mark. Unfortunately, the Gophers had other plans as the Rangers were held scoreless the remainder of the half, going into halftime down 5-1.

Crowley would add a tally in the third quarter, as the Rangers moved into the fourth quarter trailing 7-2. Midway through the fourth a comeback seemed to be brewing as Crowley and Ryan D’Alessandro (‘19) cut the deficit down to 7-4. But, the Gophers pulled away again, before Kevin Goettlich (‘20) added a late goal to bring the final score to 9-5.

In their final game at Ranger Stadium, Crowley tallied two goals and an assist, while Lyons had one goal. Meanwhile, Palmieri won 13 of 18 faceoffs he challenged for and collected nine ground balls. Swenson also grabbed three ground balls.

The Ranger men’s lacrosse team will conclude their season with a trip to Landmark Conference opponent Susquehanna at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.
