The Drew University Men’s Lacrosse team fell short 7-5 in their matchup against conference opponent Elizabethtown College on April 7. The Rangers Landmark Conference record now stands at 0-2 and their overall record is 3-8.
Just seven seconds into the game, Elizabethtown took the 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Drew responded with a goal from Kyle MacDonnell (‘20). Before the end of the first quarter, Jack Crowley (‘18) added another to cut a 3-1 deficit to 3-2. At the half, the Blue Jays had a 5-3 edge. After Elizabethtown extended their lead, adding one early in the third quarter, Kevin Goettlich (‘20) found the back of the net to bring the Rangers within two. At the 4:26 mark of the final quarter, MacDonnell scored an unassisted goal which lead the Rangers to trail the Blue Jays at 6-5. Elizabethtown scored the final goal of the game just over a minute later to secure the win.
MacDonnell led Drew with three goals while Crowley and Goettlich each contributed one. Jonny Bronander (‘21) picked up seven ground balls and caused six turnovers and Ryan D’Alessandro (‘19) added five ground balls. In goal, Nate Sanders (‘20) made nine saves.
The Rangers will continue conference play on Saturday with an away game at Moravian.
