The Rangers scored three runs in the first inning of the first game after an Eric DiPietro (‘19) two-run double followed by a Brent Lincoln (‘20) RBI single. Scranton responded with a four-spot to take the lead. The Royals clinched their 6-4 victory when they caught a deep fly ball with two down in the seventh. In game two, Scranton broke a three inning deadlock to get the lead. In the bottom of the fourth, the Rangers got a run back off of Matthew Lange’s (‘20) RBI double, but the Royals increased their lead to 5-1 in the top of the fifth. Tallies in the fifth and seventh brought the Rangers within two, but Scranton picked up and insurance run in the eighth and secured another 6-4 win.

The next day, April 22, brought the Rangers another defeat to Scranton, this time by a 14-3 margin. Zach Lipshitz (‘19) and Ryan Sabbag (‘18) each hit a solo home run, and Bryan Reagle (‘21) ripped an RBI single. Drew finished with nine total hits throughout the game with Anthony Tagliaferro (‘20) leading the team with a 2-for-3 day.

On Tuesday, April 24, Drew suffered an 8-5 loss to Kean. Despite the Rangers pair of runs in the first and 4-1 advantage in the third, the Cougars rallied for three unearned runs to equalize the play. Kean then added two in the fifth to pull ahead. Isaiah Mateo (‘18) scored a tally to pull Drew within one, but the Cougars responded with a pair in the sixth to increase their lead and assure their win.

The Rangers record now stands at 15-15. On April 26, they will travel to Salisbury. This weekend, Drew will continue Landmark conference play when they travel to Susquehanna and Juniata.
