Men’s Lacrosse Prepares for Conference Play

On Saturday, March 17, the men’s lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking 11-7 matchup to Swarthmore College.

The Rangers were up 5-2 at the half, following a five goal run in the first and second quarters. Kyle MacDonnell (‘20) opened up the scoring after receiving an assist from Jack Crowley (‘18). Opening the second half, the Garnet outscored Drew 5-0 in the third quarter, giving them the lead. The Rangers answered back with two goals from MacDonnell to tie the score 7-7. Once again, Swarthmore was able to pull ahead, scoring four goals to finish the game with an 11-7 lead.

MacDonnell finished the game with a team-high four goals and one assist and Crowley was close behind with one goal and three assists. Greg Swenson (‘18) picked up a team-high five ground balls, and Devin Lyons (‘18) collected four ground balls along with adding a goal and an assist for the Rangers. Nate Sanders (‘20) made 16 saves in goal as Swarthmore outshot Drew 40-22.

The Rangers will be back in action on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m. to open their Landmark Conference play at the Catholic University of America.
