Women’s Basketball Earns Decisive Win over Goucher

The Drew University women’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak and got back to Landmark Conference play with a massive 77-30 victory over Goucher College on Saturday, January 27. This match marked the fifth time this season that the Rangers held their opponents under 40 points.

The Rangers established a 10-3 lead early in the game, with Hailey Stine’s (’19) 3-pointer 10 seconds in leading the way. At the half, Drew had extended their lead to a comfortable 24-point margin with the score of 43-19. The Rangers would steadily increase their margin over the Gophers, ultimately closing out the game with a phenomenal 47-point lead.

Stine led the Rangers’ rankings with a game-high 22 points. She was followed by Julia Ramos (’21), with 14 points and four assists, Moe Davis Campbell (’21), with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists and Michaela Keegan (’18) with eight points, seven assists and two blocks.

The Rangers returned to the court on Wednesday, January 24, to take on Elizabethtown College. The Rangers dropped a narrow 73-68 decision. The Blue Jays’ 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining in the game proved to be the decisive blow end the game. Drew held a 39-31 halftime edge, but Elizabethtown would carry a 55-52 advantage going into the final period. The Rangers would bring it back to within a point, but unfortunately they could not secure the victory.

Stine led the Rangers’ rankings yet again, with 17 points to her name. Keegan and Davis Campbell followed close behind, each accounting for 16 points. Keegan additionally tallied three assists and two blocks, while Davis Campbell tallied three steals and seven rebounds.

The Rangers return to the court on Saturday, February 3, as they get ready to battle their Landmark opponents, Catholic University at home.
