The softball team opened conference play against The Catholic University of America in a doubleheader on March 25, 2017. The team dropped both games, losing 9-1 and 10-3.

In the first game, Katie Grodski (‘19) began the Ranger’s scoring campaign by hitting an RBI double out to right field. This tied the game 1-1 at the top of the second before Catholic exploded in the bottom of the inning, scoring five unearned runs off pitcher Emma Agostini (‘17). In the second game, Bethany Budner (‘19) and Meghan McGuire (‘17) added RBIs, with Budner’s singles bringing the score to 4-3 in the sixth. Catholic quickly answered back, adding six runs in only six hits at the bottom of the sixth inning, bringing the final score to 10-3.

The Rangers were on the road again when they took on William Paterson University on March 30. They dropped both of their games 8-0. Despite the setback, Heather Ronchi (‘18) batted her 100th career hit, taking only 88 games to reach this milestone. Her career batting average is now an impressive .347. She was the only one of Drew’s batters to get on base during the first game in the shutout. During the second game, Lauren Mastropierro (‘18) and McGuire were the only batters to get on base.

The Rangers will host Elizabethtown College on Sunday, April 2 in their season opener at 1pm and 3pm in a double header.
