Lacrosse nears end of non conference games

The women’s lacrosse team opened conference play against the number nine ranked Catholic University, dropping the game 6-18 to begin their conference play 0-1.

Despite the setback, several Rangers contributed to the score, with Theresa Shafron (‘17) netting her fifth hat trick of the season, leading the team with 21 goals this season. Anna Fiorini (‘17), Nicole Kinney (‘18) and Allie DiDario (‘20) each contributed a goal as well. Shaylyn MacKinnon (‘19) contributed defensively picking up five groundballs during the game, a team high, and Morgan Mason (‘17) caused two turnovers along with DiDario. The game had a thrilling second half, as after a scoreless first half left the Rangers down by 15 goals. They were able to score six times in the second half, while holding Catholic to only one goal. Despite their comeback, they fell to the Cardinals 16-6.

The Rangers dropped their road game against Muhlenberg College, 20-6 on Wednesday. Despite the loss, Kinney was able to score two goals, the sixth time this season that she has scored multiple goals in one game; she has scored in every game this season except for one. Also adding to the campaign were DiDario, Mia Campanale (‘19), Shafron and Anna Fiorini (‘17). Mason assisted Campanale’s goal to notch her 29th point of the season. The Rangers were also able to 13 free position throws and grab 11 groundballs during the contest.

The Rangers will seek to improve their record as they take on the College of Old Westbury on Saturday, April 1 at 1pm at Ranger stadium.
