On Nov. 11, 2022, the Landmark Conference announced their Fall All-Sportsmanship Team. The team consists of one student athlete, nominated by their teammates and coaching staff, for each fall sport from each college in the conference. The Landmark Conference says that the students are chosen based on how they “exhibit respect for themselves, their teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.”
This year, Drew’s chosen representatives consisted of Lauren Cagliostro (‘25), Lauren Geiger (‘24), Marissa Guajardo (‘26), Garrett Mironenko (‘23), Carly Orent (‘23) and Alpha Sesay (‘26). All student athletes, apart from Cagliostro, who was recognised last year, are first time All-Sportsmanship Team members. Geiger is a midfielder and defender for women’s soccer. Guajardo, a middle blocker for women’s volleyball, started her Drew career with a strong opening performance this fall. Mironenko, a defender for men’s soccer, started 17 of the 18 games men’s soccer played this fall. Orent was the chosen member of the women’s cross country team with a personal best for the 5K on Sep. 10, hitting a time of 21:18:2. Sesay represented Drew’s men’s cross country team after a season of running the 8K.
Cagliostro, a field hockey player, was chosen for a season with the most playing time of anyone on the team. “I wasn’t doing anything different; I was just being a team player. It is such an honor to be recognized again,” she said.
