If you passed HERB circle last Friday, you might have seen students lounging on picnic blankets, listening to “The Muppets” soundtrack or playing some hopscotch. It looked like a typical college afternoon you would see in the movies: food, friends and lots of fun.

On April 15, The Drew theme houses held a Themehouse Cookout outside of Eberhardt Hall.  La Casa Latina, WOCO, BSU and ABC House got together for an easygoing hangout with food and games. The event was well-attended by theme house residents and drewids alike.

The cookout featured a wide variety of soul food like mac and cheese and fried fish, as well as empanadas and pound cake. La Casa resident Alyssa Sileo (’22) said her favorite parts of the meal were the sweet potatoes and empanadas provided by ABC House and La Casa Latina.

Throughout the cookout, attendees had the chance to play hopscotch or board games and listen to music. A speaker featured music ranging from the well-received “Man or Muppet” by Jason Segel to SZA’s “Normal Girl.” Art House also provided crafts like painting for anyone looking to flex their artistic muscles.

Attendees were invited to sit on picnic blankets or chairs on the patio to take advantage of the warmth.

“It was great to hang outside in the nice weather and enjoy the start of spring with fellow students,” Sileo said.

Hopefully, these groups will collaborate again and create a great space to unwind in the future.
