The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is a free resource for academic and administrative support with offices located in the library and Brothers College. The CAE provides peer tutoring, writing support and academic coaching services, among other amenities, to all Drew students.
For those interested in contributing to the CAE, they are currently offering many roles for students. For example, you could apply to be a Student Administrator who works at the desk, makes and cancels appointments and handles data input. Peer Subject Tutors are responsible for helping students succeed in their respective subjects, anywhere from the sciences to humanities. If the CAE does not have a tutor in a subject a student needs support with, a tutor request form is available. Writing Specialists can assist students with developing their writing skills throughout the writing process, from brainstorming to revising papers. Peer Academic Coaches guide students to develop time management skills by helping them create personal schedules. All three hold 30-minute or hour-long sessions, and complete Client Report Forms at the end, describing their time with the client.
Nazlin Shakir is the Assistant Tutor Coordinator, and Nora Boyer is the Director of the CAE. The Center is currently searching for a Tutor Coordinator, but that role will not be filled any time soon.
The most recent development in terms of CAE’s outreach to students is their new Instagram account and return to Twitter after a five year hiatus. Their social media manager offers tutors the opportunity for a “weekly spotlight” and updates the student body on events, activities, resources and schedules regarding the academic support at the CAE.

Updates on the CAE are available through Drew Today or their social media.
