Drew’s men’s lacrosse team took on Delaware Valley on Saturday, March 31, at Ranger Stadium. The Rangers outpaced Delaware Valley early on, recording a 6-0 halftime lead. By the third quarter, the lead was cut to 7-3. However, Drew responded in the fourth, earning a 10-4 victory at the end of regulation.

Kyle MacDonnell (‘20) led the team in points with two goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Jack Crowley (‘18), Devin Lyons (‘18) and Seamus O’Connor (‘20) each tallied two goals apiece. Crowley also recorded an assist on a MacDonnell goal. In goal, Nate Sanders (‘20) stopped 16 of the 34 shots he faced.

The Rangers returned to action on Tuesday, April 3, in Madison when they faced their last non-conference opponent of the season in Montclair State, after the initial game was postponed earlier in the season for weather conditions. For the third straight game the Rangers scored 10 goals, but the effort was not enough as Montclair State notched the 14-10 victory and snapped Drew’s first winning streak of the season.

MacDonnell put Drew on the board first, but Montclair State responded and never relinquished their lead. The score at halftime was 9-6 in favor of the Red Hawks. O’Connor recorded the lone goal of the third quarter. A slow start to the fourth quarter for the Rangers saw Montclair State jump out to a 14-8 lead. MacDonnell made a late push midway through the fourth adding two more goals to cut the tally to 14-10, but it was not enough as the score remained the same through the rest of regulation.

Kevin Goettlich (‘20) contributed two goals and two assists to pair with MacDonnell’s four goals and one assist. Greg Swenson (‘18) caused three turnovers with a pair of assists. MacDonnell had four goals and an assist for the Rangers. Sanders started in goal and made five saves before Mike McGeeney (‘21) took over with four saves in the second half.

Drew will conclude its three-game homestead on Saturday, April 7 when they host Landmark Conference opponent Elizabethtown at 1 p.m.
