Drew’s baseball team faced a tough loss in a game shortened due to darkness against William Paterson University on Feb. 28. This was their last game before their spring break trip to Florida.
The Rangers were forced to make two comebacks after first taking the lead in the third inning. The Pioneers answered back, scoring a run to tie the game in the fourth inning before generating a four run lead in the sixth. Eric DiPietro (’19) led the comeback making the first hit of the inning, with a single. This provided the momentum needed for the team to make their comeback, as the bases were by the next two batters. Mike Miraglia (’17) also contributed, continuing his RBI streak, bringing home a run in every game this season. Jayson Mitch (’19) finished the inning for the Rangers, hitting a single that brought two runs home, tying the game. Both teams were able to score again in the seventh inning, before William Paterson took the lead in the eighth. The game was called due to darkness, leaving Drew unable to make another comeback.
The Rangers are traveling to Florida to play a seven game series in Fort Pierce, Florida, beginning with a game against Wilkes University on March 4 at 11:30 a.m.
