Women’s basketball has successful senior day against Junaita

Last Saturday, Feb. 18, marked a remarkable end to the basketball season, as the Drew University Women’s Basketball Team won their final game against Juniata College in dominating fashion.

The team led by a considerable margin by opening the second half with 16-3 and built their lead to 73-55, ultimately winning the match with an impressive 82-70.The match was filled with various achievements and career highs; Hannah Miller (’17) scored her third double-double of the season, with 22 points. Adding to the Rangers’ domination was Sam Lane (’17), who also scored a season-best of 22 points, just a few points shy of an all time career-best. Michaela Keegan (’18) assisted on seven baskets, her second highest total of the season.

During the game, Drew made seven of 15 3-point tries and registered 48 percent from the field, compared to Juniata’s six successful 3-pointers out of 25 attempts.

The day could not have ended on a higher note, as the senior women, Kati Yext (’17), Lane, Miller, Ryan Jackson (’17), Nicole Jackson (’17) and Courtney Trzasko (’17), were all honored for their various contributions to the Ranger record book, with Trzasko’s total of 132 career 3-pointers making her sixth of all time, and Miller’s total of 1411 career points making her fourth of all time.
