The Drew University men’s volleyball team delivered a commanding performance Thursday night, sweeping Neumann University in straight sets in a non-conference showdown at Baldwin Gym.
With the win, the Rangers improved to 8-7 on the season, already surpassing last year’s six-win campaign in which the team finished 6-25. The turnaround has highlighted the program’s steady growth and depth early in the 2026 season.
Drew controlled the match from start to finish, claiming victory by scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-18. It was a complete team effort for the Rangers, as 14 different players saw action in the sweep.
Lucas Mondin (‘29) made an immediate impact, hammering down eight kills across two sets. Gio Martin (‘28) added seven kills and two blocks, helping set the tone at the net. Nathaniel Fisbeck (‘28) turned in a balanced performance with six kills and seven digs while Jayden Huber (‘28) orchestrated the offense with 14 assists.
Michael Shipman (‘28) stuffed the stat sheet with four kills, seven digs and three blocks, and Gavin Cantada (‘28) anchored the back row with six digs as Drew kept Neumann out of rhythm throughout the evening.
The Rangers seized momentum early in the game and never looked back. Drew opened the match on a 7-1 run in the first set and steadily widened the gap. In the second frame, the Rangers surged ahead with a 6-0 run and punctuated the set with a dominant 10-1 closing stretch.
The third set proved more competitive, with Drew clinging to a slim 14-13 lead midway through. But the Rangers responded with authority, finishing the match on an 11-5 run to secure the sweep.
Drew returns to action on Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. when the Rangers travel to face Widener University in another non-conference matchup.
