Both men and women’s golf have taken their place upon the season’s leaderboard. The Rangers have secured multiple spots at the top, with Roxy Riles (‘26) of the women’s team and Avery Cohen (‘27) of the men’s team both claiming medalist honors as well as winning the Birdie Bash at Flanders Golf Course on Sept. 25.

The Drew University men’s golf team have had a successful season, having set and beat school records for both 18 and 36 holes continuously from the start.

Beating their school record set on April 16, 2023, the team shot a four under par 284 at the Garden State Collegiate Classic, setting the team up to take their place in the top spots.

Elliot Parker (‘26) took his place on the leaderboard with a nine under par 135 which lowered his own school record by three strokes. Avery Cohen (‘27) followed closely with a collegiate low and the team’s second best score in history of the event with a 142.

As well as shattering the program record by 10 strokes at The Gauntlet with a 574, for the first time in the team’s history, the Rangers took a victory with a score under par at a 36-hole event.

So far, the men’s team has won their last four tournaments.

With players like Ryan Ricci (‘26) having been chosen for the Landmark Conference Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week and Elliot Parker (‘26) as a top scorer, the team has been an unstoppable force throughout their fall season.

The Drew women’s team has also had a strong start to their season.

At their first event they beat their standing school record by eight strokes set on April 5, 2022, under the direction of the first year coach Lucas Artigliere (C’23).

Josephine Nguyen (‘28) and Roxy Riles (‘26) fought their way to the top at the Battle of Berkleigh at Berkleigh Golf Club.

Both tying for second place, they scored a 76 four over par. Riles (‘26) tied her collegiate low and Nguyen guided the Rangers to the top with three birdies.

The Ranger freshmen have earned their spot at the top at the annual Birdie Bash.

Josephine Nguyen (‘28) came in second and earned runner up honors with an 84. Cassandra Sengul (‘28) came in third with an 87 and Isabella Borte (‘28) came in fourth, one stroke behind Sengul.

The highlight of the Bash was undoubtedly Riles earning her second victory of the year, tying her collegiate low of 76 for two consecutive matches in a row. The team also soared to victory for the second time this season, recording a 56 stroke difference against runner-up Scranton.

The women’s golf team will be back to action on Oct. 20, and the men’s team marches on with continuous matches throughout the month.
