  1. I invite you to visit and take a photograph of the Rose Memorial Library Stack elevator, built in 1938. It is the oldest elevator on campus, yet one of the most reliable. It is an OTIS elevator. Otis built the first safety elevators. I have ridden this elevator nearly every weekday for more than a decade. It looks spooky, but it is very safe.
