The Drew University baseball team began a Landmark Conference series with a doubleheader at Moravian College on Saturday, April 14. After dropping the opener with a 9-5 count, the Rangers were able to secure the victory in game two against the Greyhounds. After jumping out to a 4-0 lead, the Rangers countered with a three spot at the top of the fifth inning. After singles from Zach Lipshitz (‘19) and Joseph Grossane (‘19), Brent Lincoln (‘20) loaded the bases. Eric DiPietro (‘19) scored a run, after which Brian Reagle (‘20) cut Drew’s deficit to 4-3. Grossane tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, and gave the Rangers the lead with an RBI in the ninth. Joshua Williams (‘19) closed out the match and secured the 5-4 victory in favor of the Rangers.

The Rangers returned to the field the next day for another match against the Greyhounds. After the Greyhounds scored an early two runs in the bottom of the first inning and extended the margin to 3-0 at the third, Drew got on the board when Reagle’s groundout notched a run for Grossane who had doubled in the top of the fifth inning. However, the Greyhounds countered with a two-spot in the fifth to make the score 5-1. An RBI single brought the Rangers within 5-2, but Moravian scored a run in the eighth, and ultimately closed out the match with a 6-2 victory.

The Rangers wrapped their week with an 11-15 loss to Franklin and Marshall. They host Landmark Conference opponent University of Scranton for three games this coming weekend.
