On September 16, the Drew University women’s soccer team continued their winning streak with a 7-2 victory over Delaware Valley. Their season record now stands at 4-2-0.

Less than three minutes into play, Alex Gilgorri (‘19) found the back of the net to jumpstart Drew’s offensive success. In the fifth minute, Gilgorri added an assist to her stats when Sarah Racine (’21) scored to make it 2-0 off of her pass. Racine soon scored again in the 23rd minute. Alexa Simon (‘20) and Alexa Fitzgerald (‘21) both added tallies to increase the Ranger advantage to 5-0 by the end of the first half.

After halftime, Jenna Chierchio (‘21) scored after picking up a loose ball and Jessica Cortez (‘21) added an unassisted goal to the tally. A penalty kick got Delaware Valley on the board, and they scored again just before the final whistle.

In goal, Madison Dudziec (‘21) made three saves to earn the win. Brielle Castanheira (‘19) recorded two saves and Nicole Fallon (‘21) stopped one shot during her time in goal.

Offensively, Drew dominated as they outshot their opponent 24-11.

The Rangers will begin conference play next week on Saturday, September 23 when they host Elizabethtown at 1:00 p.m.
