The Drew University field hockey competed in their first Landmark Conference game of the season last weekend, which ended in a 5-0 loss to Elizabethtown College.
Goalkeeper Ryann Callaghan (’19) made 12 saves throughout the game, while midfielder Madi Sheetz (’18) took two shots, one on goal. The Blue Jays had 17 shots on goal, with only one save. Elizabethtown had five goals throughout the game, with the last two coming in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Following this setback, Drew starts off the Landmark season 0-1. With their next chance for a conference win tomorrow at Moravian at 1 p.m.
After the Landmark Conference opener the Rangers traveled to Stevens Institute for Technology this past Wednesday. While on the road the team would drop this match 5-0 against the Ducks in this non conference match-up.
During the game, midfielder Sheetz took two shots, while defender Kate Todero (’19) took a shot and had two saves, resulting in her season total to three saves.
Stevens scored their first goal just 30 seconds into the game and continued to score three more in the first half. They would only score once in the second half.
Sheetz’s shot on goal was deflected away by the Ducks’ defensive. Callaghan made nine saves, bringing her season total to 93. Callaghan stands at second in the conference in saves.
Drew dropped their record to 2-6 and 0-1 in conference, however they will look to gain a win on the road this weekend against Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. and then will return home next Wednesday, Oct. 5 for a non conference game against De Sales University.
