The Drew Rangers men’s soccer team brought their record 4-2-1 with a win Manhattanville College and a no decision game against The College of New Jersey. While the team jumped ahead in the win column, they also added a tie.
The team fared well against a strong Manhattanville team by beating them with a score of 3-0. The Rangers did not strike the goal column until after the first period. During minute 51, Andy Imoh (’20) started the scoring rally for the Rangers. He was then followed by Dylan Hammer (’17) who contributed two goals to close out the opponent.
The Rangers returned home to face The College of New Jersey. The team would need to work harder and longer for this match then the previous game. Drew would eventually find itself in a double overtime game with little time to spare. The team held up but unfortunately so did their opponent, leading the game to finish with a tie. The Rangers were led in scoring by Anthony McMyne (’19) who scored in the first period. However, the Rangers would render a costly goal in the second period, during minute 80, which then led the game to finish with a tie in overtime.
The Rangers now look to head onto the road to take on Elizabethtown College in Pa. The game will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3:30 p.m. This will be the first of many important matchups against Landmark Conference opponents. The Rangers will then head to another state to take on New York University in Riverdale, New York. That game will be held on Tuesday, Sept 27 at 7 p.m. The team will finally head home to take on Landmark Conference opponent, Moravian College on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. Make sure to wish your Rangers good luck on the road and come out and support them when they head back to Madison to take on a very important conference matchup.
