The Center for Career Development hosted a career and internship fair on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the Simon Forum.

The fair featured 29 employers representing a diverse array of industries, including health care, accounting, education, nonprofit and government. Students explored opportunities within these fields, gaining valuable insights into a broad range of professional avenues.

Alongside employers, 10 graduate schools were present, offering students options when it comes to postgraduation. Notably, Drew’s Caspersen School of Graduate Studies was among the institutions represented, providing students with information about advanced degree opportunities within their own university community.

“We were really pleased with student engagement. Nearly 200 students attended, with the largest turnout from juniors and seniors – right in line with our expectations. What was especially exciting, though, was the number of sophomores and first-years who showed up, taking advantage of the opportunity to start exploring career paths early,” said Kimberly Giorgio, Director of the Center for Career Development.

The fair’s structure encouraged meaningful interactions. Students arrived armed with copies of their resumes and well-prepared questions, eager to connect with recruiters and admissions representatives. They honed their elevator pitches, practiced their professional demeanor and made lasting impressions.
In the weeks leading up to the fair, the Center for Career Development was actively promoting on-campus resources to help students prepare. Blitz Days offered quick career development activities such as resume reviews, document preparation and digital profile enhancements. The Career Closet was also present, allowing students to grab professional clothing at no extra cost.

Additionally, there were Peer Career Coaches spread around campus, offering drop-in sessions during various times throughout the last few weeks. These student coaches, Zachary Zukofsky (‘25), Gabriel Gutierrez (‘27) and Will Fritch (C’24, G’25), provided invaluable assistance with resumes and development on digital profiles such as LinkedIn and Handshake.
Giorgio noted the preparation efforts were a team effort, with Assistant Directors Gus Baxter, Gwen DeBenedetto and Ashley Tranquille playing key roles in organizing and executing these preparatory events.

Students enrolled in the DREW 110 course this semester spent the past weeks preparing for the fair. This focused preparation, including resume development, career exploration and digital profile development, ensured they were ready to make the most of the opportunities presented at the fair.
More than 30 student volunteers helped run the fair, demonstrating Drew’s strong sense of community and peer collaboration. “We had over 30 student volunteers step up simply because they wanted to help. Their support was absolutely essential in making this event a success, and we’re incredibly grateful for the time and energy they dedicated to the fair,” said Giorgio.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere was Drew’s beloved mascot Ranger Bear, who mingled with students and employers during the fair.

“The Drew community is incredibly strong, and this event was a perfect example of how our students show up when it matters. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to engage with employers really stood out,” said Giorgio.

Employers and graduate school representatives praised students for their preparation, enthusiasm and engagement.

“Employers and graduate schools shared fantastic feedback about our students. They were impressed with how well-prepared they were, the thoughtful questions they asked and their overall engagement. With such great energy from both students and recruiters, this fair was a resounding success,” said Giorgio.

Building on this momentum, the Center for Career Development is planning on hosting another career fair in October to offer students further opportunities to explore their career paths and connect with potential employers.
