A highly competitive game between the Drew University Women’s Soccer team and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers ended in a tie with a final score of 1-1 Saturday, Sept. 14 at Ranger Stadium.

Both teams struggled to score points in the first half of the game. The Engineers made several promising shots on the Rangers, but goalkeeper Sarah Crowley (‘27) stood her ground for the Rangers recording six saves to secure the outcome.

Another standout performance for the Rangers came at the hands of Alexa Krause (‘25). Krause keyed the Rangers with aggressive offensive play, while consistently pushing the ball up the field and recording three shot attempts in the second half.

After a scoreless opening half, the Rangers broke through, Krause sent a through ball to Megan Jozak (‘28) who slipped a shot past the keeper into the far side of the post. The goal marked Jozak’s first goal of her young collegiate career.

The Engineers were quick to respond to Jozak’s opening goal, however, as Gwen Barnes scored a point. This closed the gap with only four minutes left on the clock.

The Rangers continued to push for the tiebreaking goal throughout the waning moments of the second half, but were unsuccessful due to stellar play from the Engineer defense, who allowed just two shots on goal throughout the entirety of Saturday’s affair.

Drew will take the field again at Ramapo College on Wednesday in a non-conference game.
