Drew’s women’s volleyball team saw mixed results in a home tri-match, hosting Hunter College and Manhattanville University Saturday, Sept. 14. After a rough first game against Hunter College earlier that day, which finished with a box score of 3-1, the Rangers showcased their resilience in their second match of the day with a 3-2 victory against Manhattanville University.
The first game against Hunter College pushed each and every one of our Rangers. The first two periods, where Hunter College earned wins by respective scores of 25-14 and 25-21, seemed to be just the motivation the Rangers needed, as they finished the third period 20-25. Although Hunter College beat Drew University in the final period, the overwhelming support from each Ranger to another, added meaning to each dig, set and kill seen in the game.

During the Manhattanville University game, a plethora of Rangers turned in standout performances, namely Alyssa Baron (‘25), who led the spirited defensive effort with nine rejections. Teeya Desgoutte (‘26), who completed a total of 15 kills, spearheaded the offense and Alyssa Rachwal (‘27), who contributed with 40 assists, offered a balance to the team’s offensive attack. Yet, the continuous positivity and celebration, both on and off the court, displayed by each Ranger proved to be the driving force behind the team’s turnaround. The infectious energy only further excited the already-raucous Drew crowd, creating an environment where the zest was palpable. In the end, the teamwork of the Drew Women’s Volleyball Team allowed them to earn what could perhaps be a tone-setting win for the remainder of the season. The Rangers are back in action Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. against Bryn Mawr College.
