The Drew Rangers softball team suffered a crushing loss to Moravian University before rallying back for a win in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, April 9.

After losing 0-11, the Rangers returned to the field with renewed energy for a 4-1 win lead by pitcher Allie Porbansky (‘27).

Porbansky pitched the entire second game, maintaining a shutout until the fifth inning and surrendering only six hits by the end of the game.

Natalie Otto (‘27) from Moravian pitched three perfect innings at the start, but the Rangers overcame the Greyhounds’ stifling pitching in the fourth inning to put four runs on the scoreboard.

Molly O’Brien (‘24) started the rally with the first hit of the game before immediately stealing second and third base.

Haley Meierhofer (‘26) hit a double into the left-center gap, giving O’Brien a chance to score.

The Rangers ended the fourth inning leading 3-0 after MacKenzie Pisani (‘25) hit a double to help both runners score.

Moravian gained some headway heading into the sixth inning, scoring one run at the top of the inning. With the Greyhounds on the verge of scoring with the bases loaded, Porbansky’s pitch caused a grounder to Cadence Mapes-Klemic (‘27), who tagged out Moravian’s runner to close out the sixth inning.

Porbansky struck out all batters in the last inning. Throughout the entire game, she pitched an impressive 79 pitches, helping Drew leave the field with a victory.

The win advanced Drew to an 11-9 season record and earned them their second conference win of the season. Drew will play next in a doubleheader at home against Rutgers on Friday.
